EXPEDITION START MODULE
The start is a critical element of every yacht race. If you are late to the starting line you have given away time and tactical advantage to your competitors. If you cross the line too early you have to re-start. Gauging time on distance is a skill that can take years to develop, and even the best can be fooled by a shifting wind or strong current.
Do you routinely find yourself early to the line, or worse....late? Burning time can be difficult, but re-creating it is impossible. With the Expedition Start Module you will always know your time and distance to the starting line, and you'll know the time to either end. You'll also know the wind direction that the line is squared to as well as which end is favored and by how much.
Nail the start every time with the Expedition Start Module!
ABOVE - When sailing away from the line, see your time to the line including a tack (30) or jibe (38) and know your time to burn to the line (1:04). Know time to the port and starboard ends (59 & 32) and time to burn to port and starboard ends (37 & 1:04).
This line is square to the true wind direction at 000*. Neither end is favored.
BELOW - On your final approach, see your position relative to the laylines for either end (green & red) and GPS time to line (35) to account for any currrent that might be pushing you toward or away from the line.
For great lessons on how to use the Expedition Start Module, we strongly suggest picking up a copy of the Kindle book: 'Modern Race Navigation' by Will Oxley.
